Mahatma Gandhi
Mahatma Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869 in British Raj. In 1888, Gandhi traveled to London to study law. Gandhi would later become famous for leading India to independence using non-violence. One of Gandhi’s most famous quote is “When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it. Always.” Gandhi has lived by this quote as shown by his actions in South Africa and India.
Gandhi has truly lived by this quote as seen in his actions in South Africa and India. One of his actions in South Africa as seen in the movie was when he protested against the South African government over the law that Indians had to carry passes while the whites didn’t have to. After the government arrested Gandhi, the government after being pressured released Gandhi and his fellow protestors and later abolished the law that all Indians in South Africa had to carry passes. Gandhi would then return to India and join the movement for independence from the Great Britain. Another one of Gandhi’s actions is
India where he used peaceful non-violent protests to help India gain its independence. Gandhi was arrested many times and some of his followers were beaten for peaceful protests, such as the people at the March for Salt. In the end, India eventually won its independence.
Gandhi truly had lived by this quote. His actions show that in the end truth and love will always prevail and win. In South Africa, he brought equality to Indians. In India, he led a movement that would eventually help India gain its independence. That is why Gandhi had truly lived by this quote.
